THE STORY OF BULUSAN
Once upon a time in Sumber, Hadipolo village, Jekulo district, Kudus regency, Central Java, there were farmers who were workaholic. They loved worldly matters very much. They wanted to be rich soon so that made them worked so hard and forgot their obligation to pray to god.
One day, as usual, they worked all day long in their rice field until late in the evening. On the other side, Sunan Muria wanted to go to Pati and he passed the rice field where those farmes woked in. Sunan Muria advised and reminded them. He said, "why all of you do not stop working as it is time for people to go to the mosque to pray to God?". Those farmers did not notice that the old man was Sunan Muria. Getting the advice from Sunan Muria, "It is none of your business, it is up whether we work in our rice field until late at night".
Hearing the replied from the farmers, Sunan Muria answered by saying, "Oh, you look like turtles being in the water all day long". Those farmers laughed and replied, "Turtles? Ha..ha...ha... We are turtles". Saying this, those people became real turtles . God condemned them because of their own words. They regretted and asked apologized, they wanted to be human again, but it was too late. Sunan Muria said to them "Thanks God, you have realized your mistake and want to get God forgiveness. That have been already become your destiny. Don't worries god will bless you by giving you a lot of friends and food." Sunan Muria struck his stick to the ground, suddenly a spring came out and that place became a pond with its bright water.
Until now a lot of people visit Bulusan village to look at the turtles and give them food. People will never forget the story of Bulusan. Those are the turtles from people who were very proud of themselves and did not like to give respect to other people who gave them advice.
